Ouch!
For the past several weeks, mobility has been a challenge for me. Be it back pain or ligament pain, I have been getting it all. Many of our friends have been advising us to go out and do things while we still can, so I told Eli that we should go and see a Wild hockey game. I didn't really think about the logistics of going to the game, just thought the idea would be fun. I actually work about half a mile from the Xcel center and normally when we go see the Wild, Eli will take the bus to downtown St. Paul and then we will walk there watch the game and then drive home together. Well since I can't even shop at Target without it being painful, I didn't really think it out how I would be able to get all the way over to Xcel center. So when Eli informed me on Monday that he had purchased tickets for the game on Tuesday, I kind of panicked a bit. I figured if worse came to worse, I could always have Eli drop me off at the door, drive the car back to the office, park and then walk to meet me and do the same for after the game. Tuesday ended up being a pretty hectic day for me. I had an emergency hearing in the morning in Anoka County, which I won! Then I had made a scarf for the Minnesota Special Olympics that I needed to get into the mail. I realized that I didn't have a darn index card so I needed to stop at Target and pick some up. I did get parking in the front row, but of course I had got in on the food side of the store which is completely opposite of where the office supplies were. So after an entire trip around Target to by 44 cents worth of index cards I was on my way to the post office. Can you believe that it cost me $5 to mail one scarf from Coon Rapids MN to Minneapolis MN, its less than 10 miles people. Sad! I was pretty happy when I got back to the office and realized I wasn't experiencing any pain from my Target jaunt so I figured I'd risk it and walk to Xcel for the game. By the time we made it to the game I was pretty wore out, but I wasn't feeling terrible. We did have some pretty nice seats in the second row of the upper deck. So I did have to encounter the steep stairs, but nothing too terrible. About half way through the game though I discovered I had another problem. I got up to go to use the restroom and realized that the inside of my thighs were on FIRE! Yeah thats right, somehow my legs had rubbed together and I was chaffing bad. Thats the terrible thing about maternity pants. You pull that elastic waist band up all the way, but for some reason I always get saggy crotch. I ended up making the walk back to the office ok with my fire thighs. When we got home I had to borrow some of Eli's creams that he uses to combat chafing after running marathons! After two days of healing and many applications of cream I think I'm finally back to normal!
